(since Augst 28, 1998)
| The island of Hawaii is called the "Big Island". It is the biggest and youngest of all the Hawaiian islands. It is a land of dramatic contrasts with lofty mountains (Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa), active volcanoes (Kilauea), the Ka'u Desert, rain forests, and is also called the "Orchid Island" because of its many colorful orchids. The island grows sugar, coffee, cattle, and macadamia nuts. The island offers a variety of spectacular scenery from Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park to secluded beaches, to lush tropical jungles and gorgeous waterfalls, and to remote valleys where the Hawaiian kings used to live. The conference will be held on the Kailua-Kona side of the island home of many luxurious resorts with many activities including world class golf courses, scuba diving, and deep sea fishing. |
